6th edition of the contest for the best satellite image of Earth

The annual international contest ‘Seize the beauty of our Planet’ recognizes the most beautiful satellite images of the Earth. This year’s theme is Cities and nature.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

It is the 6th time that CloudFerro, a Copernicus<\/u><\/a> Ambassador, is inviting Earth Observation specialists, climate researchers, and enthusiasts to join the contest and turn satellite data into powerful messages.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

What are the goals of the contest?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Join forces<\/strong> to protect our Planet. In this year’s edition they are focused on cities: <\/strong>they want\u00a0to support the joint efforts of many European, international and regional organisations in promoting sustainable growth of urban areas, with respect for the natural environment.<\/p>\n

Educate<\/strong> about the irreversible effects of climate change, in particular regarding<\/strong> urban areas:<\/strong> let’s bring the attention\u00a0of decision-makers and communities to the challenges of today’s cities and the needs of their inhabitants.<\/p>\n

Promote<\/strong>\u00a0Copernicus Programme:<\/strong> as a Copernicus Ambassador,\u00a0CloudFerro aims\u00a0to highlight the key role that\u00a0Copernicus Earth Observation data plays not only in environmental research but also in effective and cost-efficient urban planning and monitoring.<\/p>\n

How to enter the contest and win?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To participate in the contest, you need to generate a satellite image of your chosen location and submit it on a dedicated webpage<\/u><\/a>. The image could be generated on any platform with Copernicus Earth Observation data, such as CREODIAS<\/u><\/a>, Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem<\/u><\/a>, WEkEO<\/u><\/a>, CODE-DE<\/u><\/a> or EO-Lab<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

30 Oct – 11 Nov<\/strong> – Phase 1 – public voting to select 12 finalists with the highest number of votes<\/p>\n

12 Nov – 17 Nov<\/strong> – Phase 2 – Jury voting for 3 top entries out of the 12 chosen in the public voting<\/p>\n

19 Nov<\/strong> – Winners announcement<\/p>\n
