Tue, 25/11/2025 – 14:25
Who?
The target audience for the workshop includes Copernicus and DestinE users, Earth observation and digital service providers, policy makers, industry, academia, IT experts, etc.
How?
The event is hosted by the European Commission Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) with support from the Space Research Unit of the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
It is planned as a hybrid meeting. Registration is mandatory for on-site participants. Streaming will be available for online participants. Q&A will be possible via Slido-type tool.
Why?
Over more than a decade now, Copernicus has been providing an unprecedented amount of Earth observations, added-value products, applications and services in support of EU policies and the broader public uptake.
At the same time, the digital revolution around Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), High Performance Computing (HPC), Digital Twins and big data has seen the emergence of groundbreaking use of Copernicus and other Earth Observation data and frontier applications with the potential to revolutionize Copernicus in the near future.
The Copernicus implementing entities are gradually leveraging these new technologies, and the Earth observation – AI/ML nexus is an opportunity that the EU cannot miss.
What?
The workshop will review challenges and opportunities around the new and fast evolving AI/ML landscape and what this means for the future of Copernicus as we prepare for the next MFF 2028-2034.
The event will take stock of the current AI/ML, big data and HPC revolution as well as evolving user needs and expectations around trustworthy AI products. It will also explore how to capitalize on recent innovation breakthrough such as digital twins. In that context, this forum will be an opportunity to further shape the Copernicus – DestinE synergies.
The event will feature high-level keynote presentations, carefully selected technical briefings, panel discussions and hands-on demonstrations.
How?
The event is planned as a hybrid meeting. Registration is mandatory for on-site participants. Streaming will be available for online participants. Q&A will be possible via Slido.
The registration for the workshop is now open with deadline 1 March 2026.
If you plan to attend in person, we recommend registering as soon as possible, as venue capacity is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
Further information will be provided in due time.
We look forward to seeing you in Brussels or online!
