Ísland tekur þátt í öðrum áfanga National Collaboration Programme CLMS
Í mars 2026 undirritaði Ísland viljayfirlýsingu um þátttöku í öðrum áfanga National Collaboration Programme (NCP) á vegum Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS), sem er samræmt af Umhverfisstofnun Evrópu (EEA). Með þátttökunni gengur Ísland til liðs við 20 ríki sem vinna saman að því að efla notkun CLMS-gagna á landsvísu og svæðisbundið.
National Collaboration Programme er verkefni sem nýtur stuðnings framkvæmdastjórnar Evrópusambandsins og styður ríki við að nýta og móta framtíð CLMS. Markmiðið er að auka notkun landvöktunargagna, sannreyna gæði þeirra og tryggja að gögnin nýtist þörfum ríkjanna við umhverfisvöktun og ákvarðanatöku.
Sem hluti af verkefninu mun Ísland leggja áherslu á að kynna CLMS-gögn fyrir innlendum notendum, greina þarfir þeirra og þróa notkunartilvik fyrir Ísland sem sýna hvernig Copernicus-landgögn geta stutt við umhverfisvöktun, skipulag og stefnumótun.

In March 2026, Iceland signed a Memorandum of Understanding to take part in Phase II of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) National Collaboration Programme (NCP), coordinated by the European Environment Agency (EEA). Through this participation, Iceland joins 20 countries working together to strengthen the use of CLMS data at national and local levels.
The National Collaboration Programme is a European Commission-endorsed initiative that supports countries in using and shaping the future of CLMS. It aims to increase the uptake of land monitoring products, validate their quality, and ensure that the data meets national needs for environmental monitoring and decision-making.
As part of the programme, Iceland will focus on promoting CLMS data among national users, identifying user needs, and developing Iceland-specific use cases that demonstrate how Copernicus land data can support environmental monitoring, planning, and policy.
