Náttúrufræðistofnun hefur unnið nýtt skýjalaust miðgildismósaík af Íslandi með breyttum Copernicus Sentinel-2 gögnum frá júlí og ágúst árin 2023, 2024 og 2025.
Mósaíkið var unnið með því að reikna miðgildi hvers myndeiningar yfir valdar sumarmyndir. Þessi aðferð dregur úr áhrifum skýjahulu, suðs og skammtímabreytinga tengdum árstíðasveiflum og gefur þannig skýra og samræmda yfirsýn yfir Ísland.
Gagnasafnið inniheldur Sentinel-2 bönd í 10 m upplausn: B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8, B8A, B11 og B12.
60 m böndin eru ekki með í gagnasafninu. Öll bönd hafa verið endurkvörðuð í 10 m upplausn og eru afhent í ISN 2016 – EPSG:8088. Mósaíkið hefur verið klippt með 3 km jaðarsvæði utan um Ísland.
Gögnin eru aðgengileg á tvennu formi:
- Hráar GeoTIFF-flísar í EPSG:8088, um 20 MB hver, samtals um það bil 13 GB.
- Myndgert skýjamiðað GeoTIFF með JPEG-þjöppun í EPSG:3857, um það bil 190 MB, sem hentar vel fyrir notkun í felt.
Gagnasafnið er aðgengilegt til skoðunar og niðurhals án endurgjalds undir CC BY 4.0 leyfi.

Náttúrufræðistofnun has produced a new cloudless median mosaic of Iceland using modified Copernicus Sentinel-2 data from July and August in the years 2023, 2024 and 2025.
The mosaic was created by calculating the median value of each pixel across the selected summer imagery. This method helps reduce cloud cover, noise and short-term seasonal variation, resulting in a clear and consistent overview of Iceland.
The dataset includes Sentinel-2 bands at 10 m resolution: B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8, B8A, B11 and B12
The 60 m bands were not included. All bands have been resampled to 10 m resolution and are provided in ISN 2016 – EPSG:8088. The mosaic has been clipped using a 3 km buffer around Iceland.
The data is available in two forms:
- Raw GeoTIFF tiles in EPSG:8088 of around 20 MB each, approximately 13 GB in total.
- Rendered cloud-optimized GeoTIFF with JPEG compression in EPSG:3857, approximately 190 MB, ideal for mobile usage.
The dataset is available to view and download free of charge under CC BY 4.0 License.
